Today I want to talk about the principles of working with negative words. The principles are relevant and will not lose their relevance in the near future. At the start of the project, we collect negatives as widely as possible. With modern types of correspondences and problems with displaying search queries in Google Ads reports, collecting queries in advance is a good investment in saving your time in the future. Minus requests should also be grouped. Group not only at the stage of their collection, but also at the stage of addition, when the account is already working. Grouping negative words is different from grouping words.
Everything is simpler here, but there must be order C Level Executive List so that everything is like in a good library. We group them by purpose and based on the level at which we will add them: we group the level of words separately for addition through "Lists of negative words", separately under Campaigns, separately under groups. When launching campaigns, words are rarely added to the groups, only a cross backing track . Mainly at the level of groups, minuses are gained during optimization; we group separately according to the content of the minus, which we will add in lists. This will prevent the "List of negative words" tab from turning into a dumping ground. And if necessary, delete or optimize lists of minus words.
This allows you to immediately understand whether everything is OK with our match types and selected words. You can gradually reduce the negative check to once a week , but it all depends on the project. If the project is very large, then you should divide the cleaning of requests into several days and carry out cleaning for each category of goods or services separately. Minus words should be added both in exact correspondence at the campaign level, and a separate part of it , the so-called N-Gram, which does not fit us into the list of minus words, or at the campaign / group level. Here everything depends on the logic that was included when grouping minus words. When adding an N-Gram, we think carefully, and do we have any possible variations when this N-Gram will be targeted. If there are none.
